Don&#8217;t miss it.<br \/>\nThe Temple of Segesta is located at the edge of a deep ravine while on the top Monte Barbaro there is the Theatre and a\u00a0 lovely landscape.<br \/>\nThis Temple is certainly, because of its location, one of the most fascinating temples of Sicily, dating back to 426-416 BC and is composed of 36 columns and never completed.<br \/>\nThe greek historian Thucydides tells us that the Trojan refugees crossing the Mediterranean Sea , came to Sicily, and founded Aegesta ( Segesta) and Erice. These greeks refugees took the name of Elimi.<br \/>\nSegesta was always against Selinunte. After several clashes between the two cities in 415 BC Segesta, who had allied with the Carthaginians remained the winner.<br \/>\nThe theater dates back to the third century B.C. but\u00a0 with the arrival of the Romans in Sicily was restored and remains today one of the most beautiful theaters of antiquity, for its scenic view of Gulf of Castellammare.<br \/>\nHere are held in summer interesting cultural events, plays, concerts and operas.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Segesta is the most interesting archaeological park in western Sicily.
