The road from San Vito Lo Capo brings in a few minutes in one of the most interesting natural sites of Italy : the Zingaro Nature Reserve.<\/p>\n

The breathtaking scenery from the top of the switchbacks you can see is just a taste of what you will see.
\nThis Reserve is the most important of Sicily (1981), its name is a mystery and it\u00a0 makes it even more fascinating.<\/p>\n

Seven miles of unspoiled nature.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Greeks and the Latins called it Cetaria for the abundance of tuna in its sea and in fact to the east and west of the Reserve there are two ancient Tuna traps, that of the Secco and that of Scopello.<\/p>\n

The Zingaro Nature Reserve surprises the visitor. While you walk , you meet many small bays with white pebbles, cliffs that plunge into the sea, a rich variety of flora colorful, paths that climb the mountain up to one thousand meters and caves where man lived since ancient times.<\/p>\n

Even if\u00a0 it is, firstly, famous for the sea, the reserve protects many species of animals who find here their ideal habitat. Dozens of species of birds nest in this Reserve, including the Peregrine Falcon<\/strong> and the famous Bonelli\u2019s Eagle<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

The flora is composed of olive trees, ash trees, carob trees, cork trees and plants typical of the area like as the\u00a0 Euphorbia<\/strong> , but the undisputed symbol of this place is the Palma nana<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Walking<\/h4>\n

The best time to visite Zingaro Reserve is the spring but\u00a0 the Reserve is open all year.
\nThe best way for enjoying of the nature is to walk along its paths. (2\/ 3 hours)
\nIt\u2019s very hard to describe the emotions that accompany the visitor in this magical place , the colors and smells of the herbs, the cobalt blue sea will accompany you along the way. One of the two entrances of\u00a0 the Zingaro is on the side of San Vito Lo Capo.<\/p>\n

There are several paths that you can follow depending on the level of difficulty, the first runs along the coast , it is the most popular, and also the least challenging, the second path proceeds in a zig zag pattern on the territory, crossing the coast and the mountains (more challenging).<\/p>\n

The third path is reserved for more sports and it’s possible to visit all the reserve until the Cusenza Village.<\/p>\n

You will meet seven coves where you can also swim, some of this are accessible only by sea, an experience absolutely amazing .<\/p>\n

For the lazier lovers of the sea will reach the coast of the Reserve with the boats, there are many daily trips up to the stacks of Scopello .<\/p>\n

The Reserve extends only on the mainland but boats must stay 300 meters from the shoreline if the engine is running.<\/p>\n

Museum of Natural<\/h4>\n

In the Reserve of Zingaro there is a small nature Museum where the panels were placed on Ethnobotany of the Zingaro.<\/p>\n

It is well told through photography this rural world which used in the past, the wild plants of the reserve for natural Medicine. The photographs are mixed in texts taken from the book \u201d The peopling of the Natural Reserve of the Zingaro\u201d, already published by the same company under the scientific coordination of the Department of Botany of the University of Palermo.<\/p>\n

Another project that the Reserve is pursuing the recovery of the Baglio Cusenza , 600 meters high, to save the testimony of the social and economic reality of the past.<\/p>\n
